About Us

Who We Are
Rosas Divinas has broken the mold of traditional mariachi music. As the first and only all-female mariachi ensemble in the DFW Metroplex—and one of only a few nationwide—our journey began with a deep respect for the 19th-century Mexican heritage of the genre.
"We started our path as a traditional mariachi, wearing our own take on the classic traje and mastering the instrumental fundamentals," says Director Tabitha Orta. "We have performed at well over 2,000 events across DFW, from intimate weddings, baptisms, and Quienceañeras to major festivals and shows. Our music has taken us from backyard celebrations to stages in Los Angeles, Chicago, and the Grand Cayman Islands, where we made history as the first mariachi group to ever perform there."
In late 2023, after performing nearly two decades together, we felt inspired to focus heavily on the element of music that moves us most: our specialty harmonies. Grammy winner P. Thelonious Orta—the youngest musician ever inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame—has helped guide the group from behind the scenes since late 2006. He challenged us to think outside the box, reminding us that art is about evolution.
While we cherish our roots, we actively transitioned from a standard mariachi lineup into a specialized, vocal-forward musical ensemble. Today, our focus centers on intricate trio vocalizations. "Vocals have always been our core specialty, and we have intentionally honed this strength to create something truly memorable," says vihuela player and vocalist Victoria Valero.
Clients looking to hire a traditional mariachi will still recognize the passion in our boleros, jarochos, polkas, and cumbias. However, they will now experience an elevated performance defined by mesmerizing harmonies and complex vocal arrangements, all delivered with an intimate, plugged-in ensemble feel.
The Journey and Our Roots
Co-founded in 2004 by Joanna Martinez and Tabitha Sanchez Orta, Rosas Divinas came under the sole direction of Tabitha in late 2006, shifting toward a dynamic "show group" feel. This commitment to a refined, vocal-first sound has earned us national acclaim, sharing stages with music legends like Ozomatli, Fito Olivares, and Graciela Beltran.
Deeply rooted in Texas, Rosas Divinas holds a proud, long-standing tradition at the State Fair of Texas, captivating massive audiences on both the high-energy Bud Light Stage and the iconic Main Stage. We honor where we came from, but we are proud of who we are today: an elite vocal ensemble offering a sophisticated, intimate sound perfect for any event.
